“Unfortunately, many people consider fashion a frivolous industry and seemingly not a purposeful one. But for me, the fact that I get to follow my passion – building a business doing what I love, while also providing a livelihood to others – is immensely satisfying.” So says Payal Singhal, a fashion designer with a purpose. Singhal’s goal from the start of her career has been to bring contemporary Indian wear to the forefront of fashion by taking inspiration from vintage fabrics and sensibilities, while also having a positive impact on the world.

To achieve that goal, Singhal has partnered with the Desai Foundation, a nonprofit that empowers women and children through community and vocational programs, health and hygiene training, and a variety of other homegrown efforts in India and the US.
