What's better than two trusted philanthropic names coming together to raise $1 million for breast cancer patients in need?
On Jan. 3, 2017, Charlie and Mary Beth O’Reilly made a $500,000 donation to the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks. The $500,000 is earmarked as a dollar-for-dollar match for the first $500,000 pledged through CFO to the BCFO endowment fund, which holds permanent, long-term assets for the BCFO’s future.
Executive Director Crystal Webster says BCFO provides assistance to one-third of regional families affected by breast cancer. With one-eighth of all women at some point diagnosed with the disease, that’s a lot of families to help now and in the future.
Mary Beth O’Reilly, herself a cancer survivor, started BCFO to help promote awareness and education of breast cancer among young women after a close friend of her died of the disease at age 31.
