In February of 2021, I wrote about why we need to move from a state of fear to being fearless as we navigate through the Covid-19 pandemic and into a new reality.

We have a unique opportunity and perhaps only a specific window of time to move philanthropy forward and create the change that is needed to save our planet, reduce inequalities and make our societies fairer. Since February, I’ve been thinking about how we can actually do this and looking out for inspiration, for models and new examples from people that are fearlessly approaching how they impact the world in 2021.

Here are some key lessons that I’ve learned from a few fearless leaders who pivoted, shifted, and thrived during the pandemic and are now changing the way we think about philanthropy and social impact.

  1. Take bold action and move quickly.
  2. Innovate and lead based on what you know best.
  3. Constantly push yourself and your organization to add more value to those you serve.
  4. Find your source of power and use it to power others.
  5. Learn from others' successes and failures.
